When building your content, it’s important to remember to give the
crawlers enough to bite into. A hundred words typically isn’t enough copy
for these crawlers to read and understand what the content is about. And
this content shouldn’t be stuffed with keywords either, as some search
engines (as you’ll learn in later sections) punish websites for keyword
stuffing. If you want a better SEO ranking and more happy returning customers, you have to make sure that they get the very best user experience. Reliable hosting and a fast website are the two most important (yet very affordable) investments any website owner should do. Efficient content organization enhances the message without interfering with the content’s purpose. It’s not easy to explain this in simple, concise terms. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you want to change content “for SEO” or “for presentation”. If you are only thinking of the SEO benefit of the proposed change then it’s the wrong change. Never participate on any kind of link exchange with other sites which may lead to a ban from search engines
Your authorship byline will get you noticed
Before designing a website, or even if your site is already designed, you should analyze the site’s structure. Each topic or area should have its own distinct section and flow logically so users don’t get lost, disoriented and frustrated. You need to analyze how your website is being viewed. Mobile traffic is important.
People are searching and reading on their mobile devices more than ever. What does that mean for your copy? Do you need to write differently if you’re aiming at a ‘mobile’ audience? How do you tackle copywriting for mobile? For years SEOs have focussed on the sharp end of the funnel. and for good reason: the search terms with transactional intent bring in revenue. Let’s be clear, these search terms should remain a staple of any website focussed on ROI. Search engine algorithms will surely crawl video content directly instead of just crawling the text based content surrounding the video. This will gradually phase out the effectiveness of using “clickbait” to draw more attention to the video.
Overusing tags can actually be harmful
Google RankBrain is perhaps the greatest invention/best algorithm so far by any search engine. The RankBrain is a unique artificial intelligence signal targeted at improving search results on Google. SEO is pretty much
based on keywords. The key to a good SEO strategy is to find out what words users type into a search bar when they look for websites like yours. With a list of relevant keywords in your hand, you’ll be a half way there. You shouldn’t only target 1 keyword, even if you have a very small budget or think that 1 keyword covers everything that you do or sell. This is a mistake because unless it’s a highly searched for keyword, and if it is then the competition to rank well for it will be fierce and getting your site in the top positions for it very difficult, then ranking for that 1 keyword won’t attract enough visitors to your site. While producing incredible content may get you some links, the truth is, you are going to have to do some "link building." This means reaching out to other website owners in the space to ask for links.
A backlink is a link to your site from another site
Designing your website with mobile users in mind will give you the best chance at converting the traffic that search engines bring in. Find relevant, high authority sites that partly or completely cover your niche. In Google search, the first 10 results probably belong to high authority sites. If you have just created your website, the chances of getting fast and natural links are almost zero. It’s one or the other. According to Gaz Hall, a UK SEO Consultant
: "SEO success relies heavily on the keywords you choose to target."
Submit your website to legitimate award sites
A great way to incorporate all those valuable local keywords into your website is to create valuable content. Fresh, unique content has great SEO benefits, but it will also help to establish you as a reputable, reliable and knowledgeable business. Plus, you can use it for link-building efforts and share it on social media to widen your reach there, too. Another quick, and valuable
SEO tactic – see what your competitors are ranking for. Go to one of the tools used to check out our own rankings, but put in a competitor domain. You’ll quickly see what terms they are getting traffic from, and can take the best for yourself! Gut, brain, intuition, emotional intelligence, whatever you want to call it, humans can’t be beat for determining relevance. Although bounce rate is hard to measure you should definitely monitor the trend of your bounce rate and the differences in bounce rate between your pages. If a specific page has a very high bounce rate, you should try to figure out what’s the cause. You could add links to other useful pages or call to actions to keep people on your site.
